The Punakha Dzong was once the seat of the Bhutanese government, is situated on the conflux of two rivers and offer a good example of Bhutanese architecture. The pious and sacred temple, Cimi Lakgang Monastery, is built by 'Mad Monk', the Lama Drukpa Kunley in the 15th century.
