The popular city of Kathmandu is the national capital of Nepal and the largest metropolitan area in the region. The city's history has since the period of about 2000 years when it was created in the site of a dried lake. Boudhnath Stupa and Swoyambhunath Stupa are the popular Buddhist temples in Kathmandu. The Swoyambhunath Stupa was adorned with the Buddha's eyes and includes many temples and Tibetan monasteries.
